. . . dine in the Bluff View Art District and be a food critic for a day like on the hit movie Ratatouille? Armed with your critic’s notebook and a nose for good food, discover how much fun it is to eat in a "fancy" restaurant with your own special menu, lots of delicious food, and even the chance to give your comments to the Chef at the end of the meal!

CHATTATOUILLE FINE DINING EXPERIENCE

Dining will take place at Back Inn Café in the Bluff View Art District. Children will receive a "critic’s notebook" with instructions on eating out; a menu; tips on how to smell and taste your food; sheets to comment on what they like and don’t like about the food and Ratatouille puzzles and games.

Courses will include "Little Chef’s Soup," Ratatouille (prepared like it was in the movie), macaroni and cheese, dessert and a soft drink. In true fine dining style, the food will come out in courses. At the end of the meal, a chef will come out to talk to the child and gain their approval for the dishes (this also happened in the movie), and the child will have a chance to refer to his/her notebook to tell the chef what he/she did and didn’t like.

The program is meant to educate children about how to eat in a nice restaurant, and reinforce the rules of proper behavior and etiquette that many parents want to teach. More importantly, it will teach children how to fully enjoy the food they eat. We will reinforce that kids should not be afraid of new foods, that they should give everything a chance and let there tastebuds be the judge. In the movie, the rat loved to smell his food, to eat it slowly, and to savor every bite. This is our attempt at educating children to understand that good food really is something very special.

While we are building an educational experience, we will also structure this to be a fun dining experience much like kids would get at a theme restaurant. We want it to be a fun meal based around a movie that kids love. It will certainly be a dining experience to remember!
